This is an exciting opportunity to join Resurgo and play a pivotal role in cultivating our talent offering as we develop and grow as an organisation.

You will work closely with our Director of People, Culture and Operations to create and drive a new strategy for attracting and developing staff across Resurgo. We are a high performing and ambitious coaching charity, who have previously won awards for our training through our flagship employability programme Spear. 

The important stuff

Salary: £42,000-£45,000 a year, dependent on experience

Hours: Full-time, 9.30am-5.30pm

Location:  London and home – we are truly hybrid

  • Build a strategy for attracting high performing talent into Resurgo, in line with our goals for growth and greater diversity and inclusion
  • Manage the outward face of Resurgo recruitment and profile raising to potential employees including networking with potential referrers
  • Manage the creation of a new graduate scheme for our Central teams and the development of the Spear graduate coach programme
  • Manage our graduate recruitment process, ensuring a pipeline of coaches into Resurgo and the Spear programme
  • Create and manage a strategy for our participation at careers fairs and other events, and attend as the representative of Resurgo recruitment


  • Manage the recruitment and selection process across Resurgo, with support from the HR Executive
  • Work with the Director of PCO to conduct job analysis across Resurgo to understand current and future job needs to meet organisational goals
  • Support partner Trusts with Spear recruitment needs
  • Produce job descriptions and manage the job evaluation and salary benchmarking processes


Learning and Development

  • Work with the Director of PCO to design a learning and development strategy for Resurgo, to support our growth and the needs of our people
  • Create and manage all learning and development activities across Resurgo, including All Team training, internal Coaching for Leadership participation, and team specific training needs in consultation with Directors and Heads of Department
  • Deliver training programmes and upskill staff to enable them to function effectively in their roles
  • Support a culture of continuous learning within Resurgo
  • Monitor and analyse the effectiveness of learning and development programmes
  • Communicate learning and development initiatives across Resurgo so they are known, understood and adopted by our teams
  • Work with Heads of Department and line managers to identify key learning needs across teams and develop learning offers to meet those needs
  • Research and consult on potential training options for individuals and teams as needed, and create and source relevant and high impact training content for both hard and soft skills
  • Manage the creation and implementation of personal development plans for all staff
  • Develop, imbed, and refine competency frameworks and career development pathways for staff
  • Work with the HR Manager to review and update onboarding training for all staff
  • Support the Director of PCO with a range of talent development projects, including succession planning

Performance Management and Progression

  • Manage the probation and appraisal process across all Resurgo teams
  • Work with the Director of PCO on staff progression planning
  • Manage transition planning and preparation across all teams
  • Monitor HR metrics (e.g. cost-per-hire)
  • Produce HR reports/data for reporting on KPIs

Team Support

  • Provide advice, guidance and support to line managers and other staff in recruitment and training needs
  • Supervise the HR team and manage the day to day activities of the team to ensure that quality service is provided at all times
  • Manage the HR Executive, ensuring they are supported and developed in their role

Active participation in and support for Resurgo’s team and mission

  • Help build and develop Resurgo’s ethos and Christian life as a team member including leading and contributing to daily team prayer meetings as an integral part of Resurgo’s operation and for the success of its mission

Personal specification

  • A practising Christian who is passionate about personally representing the Christian values of Resurgo and committed to Resurgo’s mission to inspire and equip organisations to bring about ambitious and sustainable social change
  • Experience in HR, recruitment and/or L&D is essential, CIPD qualification desirable
  • Strong leadership skills with experience of developing talent attraction, selection and development strategy at management level, collaborating with HR colleagues and senior leaders throughout the organisation to ensure L&D priorities are aligned with the organisation’s objectives
  • A genuine passion for delivering learning and development initiatives throughout an organisation, including using data and insights to drive improvements. Experience of designing training would also be beneficial
  • A proven track record of building productive working relationships internal and externally, with the ability to work in the interests of the organisation
  • Confidence in communicating to a wider organisation and excellent planning and organisation skills to ensure information is kept up to date and accessible
  • Ability to work autonomously and flexibly, and plan and deliver projects. Results driven and able to demonstrate initiative and drive, to respond to business needs
  • Experience in coaching is desirable
  • An excellent communicator with experience of presenting and facilitating discussion
  • Competent, logical and solutions-focussed
  • Excellent project management skills, able to devise and deliver programmes and plans using own initiative
  • Relational and collaborative, able to build relationships with people at all levels
